Using Facebook as my Fan Page

Use Facebook as Fan Page, I must do that.....

Wait a minute. I have seen over the past couple weeks indications that people are misunderstanding Facebook's "Use Facebook as Page" function. The main source of the misunderstanding centers around page owners who think they need to invoke this to comment on their own page.

Not so fast Buckaroo Bonsai!

Rule one - As a page admin when you use the status update or comment on your fan pages status updates, the comment will be from the page!!!!.

OK, problem solved. But the wise grasshopper is now asking......

Oh wise one, what is that function used for then????

The main benefit to this function is trolling around Facebook as your page and having the header bar report likes and messages to your page.

Let's lay out doing some Facebook things "As your Page"

  • Messages directly to your page - When folks message your page, which is possible so you should be checking for messages in the admin panel! Sorry, got off track. When folks message your page, you will be notified in the blue bar like you do in your personal profile. pretty neat for very active pages.
  • Same for comments.
  • Showing the love - And this is the beautiful part of this! How do you show the love to fan pages that interest you? You click the like button. Well as a page owner, ergo a business owner you should be building B2B love. What do i mean by that? Well say you are a well known club owner who serves some locally brewed beers, As your page you should like the brewery's page. Share the love. yeah that's right you get it now. In a perfect world the brewer, if not sipping his own product will reciprocate.
  • Showing the love part 2 - As your page you can further show the love by leaving comments on other profiles and fan pages as your page. To a customer this is just super. Wow, the club commented to "ME"
  • Showing the love part 3 - Tagging Photo's - If you have pictures from your club that shows patron and you happen to know their names. Tag the photo and then all the customers friends will see how you show the Viral love. Usually a bad thing but not in this case :-)

But please don't waste your time using this function just to leave comments on your page. Facebook knows you need to do this daily so they make it the default behavior for page admins!
